Greg was always talking about Malibu, so today I set out to ride along Zuma Beach. It was already hot in the Valley – up to 80 degrees by 10:00, but it was still in the low 70’s by the beach. I took Kanan Road, the same road I rode yesterday, but this time I took a left to get to the beach. I have to say, Kanan Road is beautiful in both directions. The hills are so captivating, almost like in the Sound of Music. And with the top down I am completely surrounded by the beauty. Now I know why I have a convertible. I have had my car for 5 years now and I have rarely used the convertible until now.
I got out to Zuma around 12:30. I drove by 30707 Principio Drive and it brought back memories. Sometimes I get mad at my mother over high school, but I sure am glad she brought me out to California when I was in the 6th grade. If she hadn’t had done that I don’t think I would have had the courage to come out here all on my own.
Back on PCH, I had to hunt for a parking place, but I finally found one next to Morning View. It was a glorious day! All I did was ride my bike up and down the entire beach. It is amazing what the beach can do for your mental outlook. I was feeling a bit depressed as I drove out to the beach, but once I got there and started riding my bike any signs of depression were gone.
Whenever I went to Zuma, I always parked on PCH. I had no idea that there was a whole other part of the beach there. I rode my bike the entire length from Trancas Market to the entrance to the parking lot. Then I took a right and rode all the way down to the end. It was much quieter and more secluded. I wondered why it took me so long to find it. The next time I go to Zuma that is definitely where I want to stay.
