Sweet Ride Along the Coast

By |2021-04-20T12:02:03-07:00September 30th, 2020|

Today, I did the WAR ride. It was meant to be a 60+ ride to celebrate Wendy’s birthday, but I did the short version and did 42 miles, which was still pretty good. I was supposed to meet Dee and Zee at the Ventura Mission Museum, but the street was closed off. I ended up going to Emma Wood Bike Path. I parked the car and started to ride. I thought I was going to be all by myself for the day, but 10 minutes into the ride, Barbara and Michael passed me up, “Hi! Luella!” I met up with [...]

I rode with the Old Kranks. This was my last activity for the Amgen Challenge. I did 25 activities for the month and I finished a few days ahead of time.

Another Morning Swim

By |2021-04-20T11:54:21-07:00September 24th, 2020|

The Amgen Challenge has been great for me. It has really instilled in me the habit of working out every day. I feel great every time I swim. I have done a lot of cross training this week, a lot of swimming, mostly because of the time factor. Next week, I will begin the challenge, so I will be cycling every chance I get. But for today, the water again was beautiful! I love to swim!

Morning Laps in the Pool

By |2021-04-20T11:51:54-07:00September 23rd, 2020|

I didn’t have any commitments today, so I was able to stay in the pool for as long as I wanted. The Old Kranks were doing the WAR ride today, but I wanted to work in the afternoon, so I opted out of the ride. The pool as always felt wonderful. I had no problem slipping into it. I floated for a while and then I did major laps. It is so good when I know I don’t have a time limitation and that I can stay in the pool for as long as I want. I really do love [...]

Labyrinth, Inside and Out

By |2021-04-20T11:49:11-07:00September 20th, 2020|

Today, I was still troubled. I didn’t sleep well last night. I was so restless. I think it was 3:00 by the time I finally nodded out. When I woke up in the morning, late morning, I had a slow start, but I took a swim in the pool and being in the water always helps me to get going physically and mentally, and probably throw in emotionally and spiritually. In the afternoon, I decided to go to HSRC. I sat with the labyrinth and then I walked in it and then I walked around it several times. The more [...]

Labyrinth, Inside and Out

By |2021-04-20T11:44:42-07:00September 19th, 2020|

Because my schedule is so packed and I wanted to complete the Amgen Challenge, I did 3 activities in 1 day. In the morning I took a cool swim in the pool. The water was great and I was able to stay in for a long time. I got in quite a few laps. And then after I went over to the jacuzzi, but it wasn’t hot so I didn’t stay long. In the afternoon, I headed back to HSRC and when I got there I went over to the chapel and I was thrilled that they had the labyrinth [...]

Quick Swim Before Work

By |2021-04-20T11:42:03-07:00September 18th, 2020|

I had a job in LA and I had to be there by 11:30, but I had time for a quick dip in the pool. I got in a couple of laps and that was a refreshing way to start the day. As always, the water was beautiful. I really loved going for a swim this morning and I wanted to stay longer. I don’t know how many days I have left before they turn the heat off, but I do remember that one neighbor who said she went swimming in the winter. Maybe I will do that this year…maybe.

Meditation with Redbird

By |2021-04-20T11:41:13-07:00September 17th, 2020|

Since I was participating in the Amgen Challenge, 25 activities in 30 days, and meditation was listed as one of the activities, I counted my time with Redbird as an activity. We had much to talk about and I told her of my feelings about taking on so many activities over the next few months. When I left her home, I still didn’t feel right about everything that I was taking on, but I am still glad I went to see her.
