I Did It! 525 Miles in 16 Days at 62 Years Old!

By |2021-04-21T11:42:01-07:00October 23rd, 2020|

Today was the day that I completed 525 miles for the Arthritis Foundation. I rode with the Old Kranks and at the end of the ride, I celebrated with the whole group. I hadn’t told them what I was doing, just in case I couldn’t do it. But now that I had completed the 525 miles I felt comfortable sharing it with them. I celebrated by sharing some treats with them and then many of them donated to my cause. It is hard to believe that I did it, [...]

Foggy Ride Along the Coast

By |2021-04-21T11:27:52-07:00October 21st, 2020|

Today I rode with the Old Kranks. We rode up the coast. This is my favorite ride, but today it was so foggy and I could barely see a few feet in front of me. Weather makes all the difference in the world. It was foggy, drizzly, wet, and cold and being on the coast only made it worse. My glasses got so steamed up, I had to stop several times to wipe them. It felt like the last mile in a marathon and in a sense, it was. We got to Santa Barbara and stopped for a coffee break [...]

Ride to Chatsworth

By |2021-04-21T11:23:41-07:00October 20th, 2020|

I was on my own again. I took off early in the morning and rode my normal route up to Chatsworth and taking a few side streets and cul-de-sacs along the way. The weather was perfect. I am really grateful that the weather has been so good for all of my rides. There have only been a few days with cold and wind, but for the most part the weather has been perfect. I logged 33.90 miles and that puts me at 455.30. I am almost there.

Cooler Ride

By |2021-04-21T11:22:07-07:00October 19th, 2020|

Today, I rode with the Old Kranks. We rode the usual First Neighborhood route, but at the end of the ride, I decided to go around the lake a few more times. Daniel came with me. I am so close to accomplishing my goal, I can hardly wait. I think I will make it by the end of the week.

Another ride in the Valley

By |2021-04-21T11:19:56-07:00October 18th, 2020|

Another day, going it alone. I am trying to ride as much as I can because I don’t want to get behind. I don’t like that anxious feeling, not being able to catch up. It can be very debilitating, but I feel like I am ahead of the game. So today, I rode in the Valley by myself. Like last Sunday morning, it is always quiet and I feel as though I have the whole road to myself, but I still keep within the lines. I rode down Burbank Blvd., then right on Platt and left on Valley Circle and [...]

Nice Ride on a Saturday

By |2021-04-21T11:17:46-07:00October 17th, 2020|

Today, I got to ride with my teammates from the Arthritis Foundation – Gail, Dave, Noreen and John. We met in Ventura and then headed up the coast. Riding along Rincon Beach is my favorite ride. There is something about the California coast that is so beautiful and no matter how many times I ride my bike along the coast, I never tire of it. We drove through Carpintaria and then made our way to Santa Barbara and then we headed back. I am really feeling confident. I am over ½ way to my goal of 525. Today, I rode [...]

A New Route

By |2021-04-21T11:14:50-07:00October 16th, 2020|

Today, I rode with the Old Kranks, but we took a different route. We started in Westlake and then we headed east to Agoura and then we rode north on Kanan Road. We rode through Oak Park and then Thousand Oaks. It was a new route and it was good to have a change of scenery. It was a little bit longer than the usual Friday ride. We rode 33.31, so that gave me a total of 314.81 miles.

All the Way to Neptune’s Net

By |2021-04-21T11:13:03-07:00October 14th, 2020|

Today was an away ride with the Old Kranks. We met in Camarillo and then headed to the coast. Riding the coast is my favorite ride. The Pacific Ocean is so beautiful, I don’t think I will ever get bored with it. Once we got to PCH we headed south to Neptune’s Net. A quick stop and then we headed back to Camarillo. I logged 37.15 miles for the day. I am really starting to believe that I can do this. I am up to 281.50 miles.

Ride Around the Neighborhood

By |2021-04-21T11:09:53-07:00October 13th, 2020|

I rode alone today. I took my usual valley route and rode through West Hills. I wanted to build up miles, not necessarily speed, so I rode around quite a few cul-de-sacs. I took my time and took in all the beautiful homes in the area. The weather has cooled off, so I wasn’t in a hurry to get back home before the sun came out strong. I hooked up with the Orange Line and rode all the way to Rinaldi and then headed back. I logged 31.14 miles for the day. I can average about 30 miles and not [...]

Lake Loops

By |2021-04-21T11:05:41-07:00October 12th, 2020|

Today was another ride in Westlake Village with the Old Kranks. At the end of the ride, I wanted to add in a couple of more miles, so I rode around the lake a few more times. Daniel and Mary Ann came with me, so I didn’t have to go it alone. I rode 32.57 miles for the day! My total is 213.21.
