Showing Gratitude

By |2021-03-16T08:33:40-07:00June 30th, 2020|

Today I went to Cavaretta’s and got a gift card for the guy in #352, who stopped me on the freeway to give me my tire. I went to his unit later in the day and gave him the gift card. He was very happy and he told me that if I ever needed anything to just let him know. It’s nice to have nice neighbors.

Dolphins Along the Coast

By |2021-03-16T08:31:37-07:00June 26th, 2020|

Gail invited me up to Ventura in the afternoon for a ride up the coast. I had to deliver meals at ONEgeneration in the morning, so the timing was perfect. It is a bit of a drive for me, but I love riding with other cyclists. I met Gail at Patagonia in Ventura and then we had a nice ride along the coast. On the way back we saw dolphins jumping up in the ocean. I loved it! While I love all my rides and I am learning so much California geography, my favorite ride is riding up the coast. [...]

Jacuzzi Relief

By |2021-03-16T08:28:42-07:00June 25th, 2020|

Today, I took full advantage of the jacuzzi. My muscles were sore, so it was a good place to be. I have always loved the jacuzzi, but now it takes on a special meaning. Normally, I would go for a massage, but COVID-19 put a dent in that, so a jacuzzi will suffice. It really does help to relax my muscles.

The Longest Ride So Far

By |2021-03-16T08:25:58-07:00June 24th, 2020|

Today was the longest ride so far. Sue had introduced me to the “Old Kranks” via email and I got an invite to ride with them. The “Old Kranks” is a club made up of mostly older people, but they are in great shape. I met the group at 8:30 at the Pleasant Valley Park and Ride in Camarillo and then we were off. There were six of us: Allan, Ron, Daniel, Mike, Wendy, and myself. I didn’t know where we were going, I just wanted to stay with the group and not hold people up. I did pretty good [...]

Taking a Swim

By |2021-03-15T13:16:37-07:00June 23rd, 2020|

Today was a day for cross training. It was hot out so I went for a swim in the pool. I find that the water helps my muscles. I do quite a few laps, mostly breast stroke. I like that one the best. When I swim freestyle I get water in my ears. The butterfly stroke is really hard, but the breast stroke is just right and I enjoy it the most.

Neptune’s Net

By |2021-03-15T13:14:43-07:00June 20th, 2020|

Today was off to a rocky start, even though I had planned everything out the night before. I was meeting the team, Suzi, Sue, Noreen, Gail, and Dave at the BevMo in Camarillo. I had my clothes ready, my bag ready and I checked my directions so I knew exactly where I was going. And we weren’t meeting until 9:00am, so I didn’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get there. According to WAZE it would take a little under 30 minutes. I woke up in plenty of time, so I had a little breakfast and [...]

Back to the Hills! Granada Hills

By |2021-03-15T13:09:22-07:00June 18th, 2020|

It was cool again, so I had to go bike riding. I went in the same direction as yesterday, but this time a little further. I headed up Fallbrook to Canoga, crossed Devonshire, up to Sierra Canyon and rode Rinaldi all the way to Shoshone. I did pretty good. When I got home and checked Strava I had ridden close to 30 miles, so I had logged 50 miles for the week.

Back to Chatsworth

By |2021-03-15T12:59:47-07:00June 17th, 2020|

It was cool today and I had to take full advantage of the weather. It was in the 70’s. I wasn’t sure where I was going to go and then I thought straight and level. I hadn’t been up to Chatsworth for a while so I headed up that direction. I had a conference call at 4:00, so I had to be back by then. I took off around 12:30. I headed up Fallbrook and then made my way over to Canoga and then followed the bike path all the way to Devonshire. I crossed Devonshire and then rode to [...]

Orange Groves and Lemon Groves Abound

By |2021-03-15T12:57:36-07:00June 13th, 2020|

Today, I met Suzi, Noreen, Gail, and Dave up in Fillmore. We had a great ride all through the town. It is really amazing all the beautiful places in California that I have never even seen before. I never knew there were so many orange groves and lemon groves in California. It was hot though. We made a stop about ½ way through our ride and I had some water, but I had put an energy boost in it and the granules irritated my throat. It made me cough a lot. It was awful. I stayed toward the back so [...]
