Today, I drove to Santa Barbara to meet with Nate. Nate is a bike fitter. He fitted my bike to my body. The whole process took about an hour and half. He first had me get on my bike and pedal. Then he had an idea of my style. Next, he took a lot of measurements of my bike. He had me get on and off the bike several times and then he adjusted the seat and the handlebars. He was very conscientious about his work. We had great conversation too and he also gave me some riding tips.
My brakes were pretty much shot, so Nate gave my bike to Matthew in the shop so he could fix them. He did a tune up too and he showed me how to grease the chain. I also bought an air pump to pump my tires. They were very low.
So, I got my bike fitted, tuned up, pumped up and now I am pumped up and ready to go. I think Nate’s work is going to make a big difference in the way I ride. My posture is better for sure. Before I was too slouched over and it just didn’t feel right. Now I am a bit more upright and my body is better aligned with my bike. Nate really knows his science, not just bike mechanics, but body mechanics as well.
