The Road to Calabasas

By |2020-04-06T10:08:14-07:00March 31st, 2020|

Today I rode further and longer than any other ride I have done so far, but I planned it that way. I usually think about my ride the night before. I plan it out in my head. So the night before, I decided that I was going to ride to Calabasas. I imagined in my mind riding down Burbank to Valley Circle, taking a left, then over the 101 Freeway, left on Calabasas Road, then a right on Mureau Road all the way to Las Virgenes in Calabasas. That was my plan as I fell asleep. The next morning I [...]

Fewer Cars, Same Amount of Bumps and Potholes

By |2020-04-03T12:48:30-07:00March 28th, 2020|

I went on a much longer bike ride today. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, a couple of clouds, but the temperature was mild with a slight breeze. I have been riding a new bike route and I love the scenery. During this corona madness, I’ve seen more people out on their bikes, parents walking with their children and a number of people walking their dogs. With fewer cars, I notice more things going on around me. Even though there are fewer cars and even though I can’t hear a car coming, I always “look” both ways before I cross [...]

Back in the Seat

By |2020-04-03T12:39:20-07:00March 24th, 2020|

I hadn’t ridden my bike in almost a month. I had spent the last two weeks inside, only going outside for groceries and mail. Before I went out, I called 311 to make sure it was okay to ride my bike. And they told me as long as I stayed six feet away from people and wasn’t in a group of more than ten I could ride my bike. I always ride alone, so I was good to go. I took off in the afternoon and the one obvious effect of the corona virus was less traffic. It makes such [...]

Cabin Fever

By |2020-04-03T12:37:33-07:00March 19th, 2020|

Cabin fever is starting to get to me. I went out today, picked up some food at Gelson’s. It was good to see real people and not just TV people. Everyone was keeping their distance. It rained for a good part of the week and I was wondered if I was ever going to get back to riding my bike. I wasn’t sure what to do and then I looked up a couple of articles on the internet and I read one that said medical experts say it is okay to go jogging, cycling, hiking, and walking as long as [...]

Self-Quarantine

By |2020-04-03T12:30:24-07:00March 14th, 2020|

Everybody is talking about self-quarantine, so since I didn’t have anything better to do, I decided to stay in. I went to Trader Joe’s and got food for the week. I did not hoard either, I got what I normally get with a couple of bottles of wine.

Social Distancing

By |2020-04-03T12:29:07-07:00March 13th, 2020|

These are crazy times that we are living in. I went to my exercise class at ONEgeneration. I could only have ten students in my class and we had to practice social distancing, so we did our exercises six feet apart. The corona virus is stifling everybody and everything. I love my exercise class, but for now it is on hiatus. The class was canceled indefinitely till the corona virus is over.

Yosemite Getaway

By |2020-04-03T12:28:02-07:00March 6th, 2020|

I am not in Los Angeles. A friend of mine invited me to come to Manteca in Northern California to celebrate her birthday. We drove up yesterday and stopped at Yosemite. I had never been there before and it was absolutely breathtaking. Even though I didn’t get a chance to ride my bike, I did get some hiking in and the fresh air and the scenery was really good for my health.
