Riding in the Fog

By |2021-04-20T11:39:39-07:00September 16th, 2020|

Today was a WAR with the Old Kranks. It was a tough one. I didn’t sleep well the night before and it really made an impact on my riding. I actually took 2 melatonin the night before to help me sleep and they hadn’t worn off yet. To make it even more difficult, it was cold and foggy and as if that wasn’t bad enough, there was a strong headwind. I had a long road ahead of me along Emma Wood Bike Path and then we continued along the coast. It was a tough ride for a number of reasons. [...]

Morning in the Pool

By |2021-04-20T11:36:33-07:00September 15th, 2020|

I don’t know how many more days I will have in the pool, so I want to take full advantage of these last few days of summer. It was a bit chilly when I first went in, but I got used to it. The water feels so good. Swimming really is a beautiful sport and I love it. And it really complements my cycling. While my cycling is good for my lower body, my swimming is good for my upper body. I just have to get rid of the gut. I ordered a couple more boxes of Dr. Gundry’s Total [...]

’Round the Neighborhood

By |2021-04-20T11:34:41-07:00September 14th, 2020|

I missed the ride in Westlake, but I got in an evening stroll in the early evening. I am keeping up with the Amgen Challenge. I remember when I was on the Indian reservation, I was in really good shape because I walked to school every day.

Morning Wake Up Walk

By |2021-04-20T11:32:56-07:00September 12th, 2020|

The Old Kranks were riding to Hidden Valley today, but I was going down to Redondo Beach in the afternoon, so I skipped the ride, but I still wanted to get in an activity for the Amgen Challenge, so I walked around the neighborhood in the morning.

Another Westlake Ride

By |2021-04-20T11:24:33-07:00September 11th, 2020|

It had been 19 years since 9-11. It is still a sad day. I rode with the Old Kranks today. We met at Gelson’s as usual and I didn’t realize it, but I took off with the Blazing Saddles. They really clip along, but I kept up with them. When we came to our first stop, I talked with Mary Anne and Ron, another Ron. We made our way around Westlake Village and then back to Gelson’s. Allen offered to buy me a chai latte at Gelson’s so I accepted and then we met at the side of the parking [...]

Same Day, Different Route

By |2021-04-21T10:58:49-07:00September 9th, 2020|

Today, I rode with the Old Kranks. It was a bit cooler and I always ride better when it is cooler. We did a warm up and then we rode around the lake. I rode 21.60 miles with an elevation gain of 591 feet. After I left the Old Kranks in Westlake, I drove to Kanan Road, parked the car in the Von’s parking lot and then rode down Kanan Road to Westlake Blvd. It was quite a long ride and then I rode Westlake Blvd, to Thousand Oaks Blvd. I could have gone to Agoura, but I decided to [...]

Morning in Montecito

By |2021-04-20T11:21:22-07:00September 9th, 2020|

Today was a beautiful ride with the Old Kranks! We took Emma Woods Bike Path to the fire station. We crossed under Highway 1 and then rode along the Rincon Beach Bike Path and then it was up Bates – the tough climb. We took SR 150 and rode through Carpentaria to Summerland and then took the bike path to N. Jameson Lane and then we rode through Montecito. It was beautiful! We stopped at Starbucks for a drink. On the way back we stopped at Viola Fields and the fire station. We took the Emma Woods Bike Path and [...]

Evening Stroll

By |2021-04-20T11:18:23-07:00September 8th, 2020|

Today I went to the beach with Debbie, but she didn’t want to go in the water. But we had a nice time. When I came home I went for a walk in the neighborhood. I am trying to stay on top the Amgen Challenge and I try to do some kind of an activity every day, although I have taken a day off here and there.

Afternoon in the Pool

By |2021-04-20T11:16:38-07:00September 7th, 2020|

Today, I went swimming again in the pool. No one was in the pool and again I had it all to myself. I got in quite a few laps. It is always hard for me to count the number of laps I have done, but I know that each time I go for a swim, I swim more laps. I measured the length of the pool and it is 36 feet 9 inches. So, I have been doing a lot of swimming.

Staying Cool in the Pool

By |2021-04-20T11:15:32-07:00September 6th, 2020|

It was going to be a really hot day, so I went out early to the pool and got in a good swim before anyone else got out there. I spent a little time in the jacuzzi too. They predicted a hot wave this weekend and living in Woodland Hills, I am glad I have a pool to relax in.
